Archives (1)

Lagos Tokyo Project was formed by ADEBOWALE OSUNNIBU (Ade), a saxophonist in EGYPT80, the backing band of FELA KUTI, now officially taken over by his son SEUN KUTI, and YUKI ITO, a Japanese drummer who loves Afrobeat and runs a music bar in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo.
After the 2020 Covid-19 disaster, the band stopped playing and the bar also stopped.
Under the slogan of "Turning a crisis into an opportunity," the two begin a remote project between Lagos and Tokyo.
The project to keep the sound and ideas going.

The first Lagos Tokyo Project live event will be held in Tokyo on Sunday, January 8, 2022.
The band Iyaju of Courage, guest musicians, and guest DJs will be invited to perform music from the Lagos Tokyo Project. Ade will also participate as a remote player on the day.
